★
So you want to play a Constellation—one of the superior beings subscribed to the Celestrials live stream, who get to watch (or make) the characters dance. The best way to think about the Constellation's role in this whole thing is: they paid for a subscription, so they deserve access to the entertainment that the Outer Lord has promised them.
Thankfully, as the viewers of this live stream, Constellations get to engage in their own ways. Here are some things your Constellations can do, and some things for you to consider.
Reward Coins
★ Sponsor, donate, send, reward, gift—it's all the same. When something a character's said or done has tickled a Constellation's fancy, they can throw coins at them.
★ Constellations can give characters coins in the following increments: 1, 50, 100, 200, and 300. Ideally a Constellation shouldn't cheat and offer up, say, 500 as paid in two different payments. They should encourage other Constellations to help increase the ante instead.
★ There is a budget and a required guideline: each OOC month Constellations will start with 5,000 coins to spend as they please (6,500 if they are sponsoring two competitors,) but they must reward at least 500 coins (to any competitors at all) each month in order to remain in play.
★ Of course, Constellations can set their own standards for how they give out coins. Maybe a Constellation donates frequently in 100 coin increments. Maybe another Constellation rarely donates, but when they do it's 300 coins for something they've been dying to see. Play them as you see fit.
★ Coins can be rewarded at any place and time (during a trial, between trials) with the exception of the character's apartments—that's each character's one true bit of privacy from the pressure of the Celestrials.
★ Even if another Constellation already rewarded a character for the same thing your Constellation was going to reward, go ahead and have them do it anyway. It's great encouragement, after all.
Make Requests and Offer Rewards
★ So nobody has done anything that interests your Constellation, or there's something they're just dying to see—no sweat! They can make an encouraging request with a coin reward. It could be something small, like asking to see the character smile, or something a bit more demanding like asking everyone to kill someone (with OOC permission acquired first.) Anything a character can do is something your Constellation can request!
★ These requests can be their own post, a top-level in the middle of a mingle, a comment in the middle of a thread, or a comment anywhere in the middle of a trial. In summary, you can have them request to see something at just about any time.
★ Requests can be made towards specific characters or a specific team (especially makes sense if the request was made in the middle of a thread or a trial) but this shouldn't be the default (with the exception of focus on the character your Constellation is sponsoring.)
★ With each request, Constellations can include their own personal message. The tag could look like [Mr Fun Title offers 200 coins to whoever befriends Bob, and says "Guys, come look at this sad fuck, he's just so pathetic. It makes ME sad. I'll pay anyone to befriend him, please, I think he likes sewing so talk to him about that."]
★ Other Constellations can chime in and increase the pool if they'd like.
Comment or Send More for Characters to See
★ Constellations can make comments for anyone to see in real-time. Thus, if your constellation wants to openly judge or express their feelings over something happening, for all to see without spending any coins (though there's additional options that entail that, too,) they can just send a comment.
★ By default, a Constellation's commentary is always sent in third person, like they're using "/action" in the chat. Comments will turn up as "Mx Cool title is biting their nails over this rocky friendship!!!" and "Miss Weird Title is still laughing her ass off over the joke you told five minutes ago." are examples of how to approach it. It's unclear whether or not the Constellations are actually typing these things, or they have a fancy magic chat program that's relaying it automatically.
★ However, Constellations can spend 50 coins to send messages in first person to say what they want in their own words! This is costly for the Constellation because the Outer Lord wants to discourage conversation between competitors and viewers. Constellations who abuse this type of messaging will be punished by the Outer Lord with a character limit and/or message limit.
★ Constellations can send private messages meant for strictly the competitors they're sponsoring. It must follow the rules of normal messaging, ie "only third person unless they pay for it."
★ Constellations can also spend 50 coins to send a single fanart, fanfiction, meme, or song. They can send characters a funny meme, illicit fanfiction of them and another character dying together, something they drew, or they can simply choose to play the recorder version of the titanic song for a team to hear before they die in a trial.
Sponsorship
★ At the beginning of every round of the Celestrials, Constellations are encouraged to seek out and sponsor one of the competitors—someone they'd like to see survive the comptetition, who they find deserving of their stigmas.
★ Your Constellation needn't be glued to the character they're sponsoring; granted, they should show some interest in the character they're sponsoring, but in actuality Constellations can gravitate around the Celestrials and donate however they please. If their sponsored character isn't doing a murder, but some rando on the other side of the room IS, then heck yeah they can and should tune in to that instead!
Their Ranged Access
★ The live stream catches everything happening outside of the team's residences. If multiple things are happening at once in different places, and your Constellation wants in on both things, you can assume they have access to all of that footage. It's magic!
★ Your Constellation also has a life outside of watching the Celestrials. Probably. Presumably. If they miss something happening that they would have been interested in, had they been around, you can say the Constellation was unavailable!
★ On the flip side, there's also nothing wrong with going back through posts that happened earlier that week and belatedly rewarding coins.
No Physical Presence in the Celestrials
★ Constellations are subscribers watching the stream at their leisure from galaxies away. Their only means of communication with the characters is through the stream itself—they can't appear in person, or have the means to manifest a form in the Celestrials.
Chat Normally with other Constellations
★ At the start of every week, we will toss up a "gossip" post where Constellations can exclusively chat with one another over the things that are happening in the Celestrials. Unlike the messages to the contestants, this is a combination of proper stream chat and a "Zoom video meeting"—Constellations can practically communicate face to face if they dared, but why would they. (They can though.)
Activity
★ Constellations aren't played like standard characters, so they have their own activity requirements. Activity is reward a minimum of 500 coins to competitors over the course of the month. Coins spent by the Constellation on sending messages to characters do not count towards activity.
