Yes, you are correct so I will do it. You are still young and free of blemishes so it is senseless to receive an ugly scar that you must live with.

On the other hand, adults already have to deal with sunspots, wrinkles and uneven tanlines from having their arm out against the car window while driving. Scarring maintenance will simply become routine body care so it won't make much of a difference.
